To ride a Medium motorbike up to 35kw (47BHP) - A2 class:

There are three routes to getting your A2 licence :-

1) If you hold a UK driving licence with provisional motorcycle entitlement.
This has two parts:

- Photo card
- Paper counterpart (unless you have a old style paper licence).

(If you hold an EU licence you must apply for a UK driver number).

You must successfully complete a Compulsory Basic Training course (CBT), you must also have a current motorcycle theory certificate. Then you can take the two part practical test on a bike of at least 395cc and between 25kw and 35kw.

2) If you have held a full A1 licence for a LESS than two years.
You can take the two part practical test on a bike of at least 395cc and between 25kw and 35kw.

3) If you have held a full A1 licence for a MINIMUM of two years.
You can take the two part practical test on a bike of at least 395cc and between 25kw and 35kw.

Once you have passed the A2 you can ride any motorcycle, and carry a pillion, providing the bike does not exceed 35KW (47 BHP).
